This is Lesson 1 of our Amazon Connect Other Metrics quiz series. Beyond the standard queue and agent reports, a contact centre runs on a wider set of measures: flow time, consults, transfers and the settings behind service level. This lesson tests whether you can choose the right metric for a business question and explain why real-time and historical views are both needed.
Ten questions with instant feedback, for supervisors, reporting analysts and Amazon Connect interview candidates.
Questions in this lesson
Try the quiz first, then use this list to revise the topics it covered:
- Why is it useful to track both real-time and historical metrics together in day-to-day operations?
- Which combination of metrics best evaluates overall queue health at a glance?
- What does ‘Missed Calls’ or ‘Agent Non-Response’ at the agent level typically indicate?
- Which metric type would you use to compare performance across multiple queues handling different products/departments?
- What is measured by ‘Average Contact Flow Time’ or time spent in an IVR contact flow before reaching a queue/agent?
- Which metric would flag that agents are being kept too busy without enough idle/available time (risk of burnout)?
- What does a queue’s ‘Service Level threshold’ setting (e.g., 80/20) define?
- Which metric is most useful for capacity planning and forecasting future staffing needs?
- What does ‘Contacts Consulted’ or ‘Consult’ metric generally represent?
- Which metric captures how many contacts were transferred from one queue/agent to another?
Key concepts: Amazon Connect Other Metrics
- Real-time vs historical metrics – real-time metrics show what is happening now so supervisors can react; historical metrics show what happened so managers can find patterns and plan.
- Service level threshold – the number of seconds you set on a queue report as the target answer time. Changing the threshold changes the service level percentage, not the customer experience.
- Flow time – the time a contact spends in flows before reaching a queue or agent. Long flow time usually points to a long IVR menu or slow Lambda calls.
- Consults – contacts where an agent put the customer on hold to speak to another agent or queue before transferring or resuming.
- Transfers – contacts passed to another queue, agent or external number. Tracking them by queue shows routing mistakes.
- Capacity planning metrics – contacts handled, AHT and arrival patterns by interval are the basic inputs for forecasting and scheduling agents.
How to use this quiz
Use the quiz to check your choices, then think of one real business question for each metric you missed and decide which report would answer it. When you score 8 out of 10 or more, move on to Amazon Connect Other Metrics Quiz – Lesson 2.
